Who could forget Brad Faxon`s incredible putting display on the road to victory in 1993 or Lee Westwood`s iconic four-hole playoff with Greg Norman in 1997. An Accenture World Matchplay, a World Cup of Golf, and many more.
With an entire course restoration now complete, and shining even brighter than before, Metropolitan looks forward to creating more tournament history in the years ahead.

There are no finer ambassadors for golf, and golf for people with a disability, than these two fellows.
Born with cerebral palsy and notwithstanding 10 major surgeries on his feet & legs, Kipp has climbed to a World #1 ranking. He has won 15 G4D Tour titles including the 2025 G4D Tour Series Finale… an impressive resume!
We have been proud to host Kipp this week as he fine-tunes his game ahead of the @asiantour Qualifying School in Thailand, where he will take on some of the world’s finest professional golfers. He’s in super form & we wish him every success as he takes on some of the very best in the game!

It was a great thrill to host golfing superstar @rorymcilroy at @metropolitangolfclub yesterday.
Rory played Metro’s par 3 Second Hole as part of an @ausopengolf initiative, where he visited @melbournesandbelt clubs who have enjoyed the privilege of hosting past Opens.
Metropolitan has hosted seven Men’s Australian Opens and a Women’s Australian Open. Our 1930 hosting saw the inaugural Stonehaven Cup presented, while our 1993 hosting saw Rory’s putting coach @bfaxon crowned as the Champion. And who could forget the 1997 hosting where @westwood_lee took down the might of Greg Norman on the fourth sudden-death playoff hole.
