The Metropolitan Golf Club is offering a number of Junior Golf Scholarships to assist junior golf development in Victoria. In the past 15 years, 190 scholarships have been awarded and many of the recipients have gone on to become members of Metropolitan. This includes LPGA star and Olympian Su Oh, and Asian Tour Myanmar Open champion Todd Sinnott.
The 2023/2024 Junior Golf Scholarship Program will commence on 1 July 2023 and conclude on 30 June 2024.
Junior Golf Scholarships at Metropolitan provide for complimentary use of the course and facilities of the Club for 12 months and an organised golf skills program provided by the Club’s PGA qualified staff, including Stuart Leong (Australian PGA Teacher of the Year 2015). Selection criteria to determine the awarding of scholarships to applicants between the ages 12 years and 16 years inclusive, as of 1 July 2023, will be based on:
* Consideration of applications received, including current experience, future potential, character, and personal conduct
* Applicants who have previously had access to a Scholarship Program may not be considered.
* The Scholarship Program is designed to provide young golfers with a pseudo-membership experience at a Melbourne Sandbelt club such as Metropolitan. Preference may be given to those applicants who do not have this opportunity via their current membership or junior program experiences.
